Fazenda Camocim is committed to the conservation of native stingless bees of the Atlantic Forest, recognizing their essential role in maintaining biodiversity and the health of forest ecosystems.
These remarkable pollinators are vital for the reproduction of countless native plant species, supporting forest regeneration, fruit and seed production, and the wildlife that depends on these natural resources.
On our farm, we protect and monitor native stingless bee colonies, preserve their natural habitat, and promote environmental education and scientific research. Among the species found here is the Yellow Uruçu (Melipona mondury), a gentle native bee that plays a crucial role in the pollination of Atlantic Forest plants.
By protecting stingless bees, Fazenda Camocim helps preserve one of the world's richest biodiversity hotspots and promotes a more sustainable future where agriculture and nature thrive together.

The yellow uruçu (Melipona mondury) is a native Brazilian stingless bee of small size, measuring approximately 10 millimeters in length and characterized by its predominantly yellow coloration. It is found in the Brazilian states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo.
This species belongs to the group of stingless bees (tribe Meliponini). It is gentle and non-aggressive, allowing for safe observation at close range. It typically builds its nests in natural cavities, such as hollow tree trunks.
_Melipona mondury*_ plays an essential role in maintaining biodiversity by pollinating a wide variety of native plant species. This process is fundamental for plant reproduction, fruit production, and the conservation of Atlantic Forest ecosystems.
Its preservation is directly linked to the conservation of forests and the natural habitats where it lives, making it an important ally in food production, native vegetation regeneration, and the long-term sustainability of ecosystems.
